Dubai gold climbs for second straight session as 24K reaches Dh522.25
Silver, platinum and palladium extend strong runs
DUBAI – Dubai gold rates edged higher on Thursday as retail prices posted a modest day-on-day increase across all purities, according to Dubai Jewellery Group.
The movement follows a firmer midweek trend after a sharp rise on Tuesday, keeping the local market closely aligned with steady global bullion prices.
Shoppers and investors tracked incremental changes as international cues remained mixed ahead of key US inflation data.
Dubai gold rates
On Thursday, suggested retail prices in Dubai stood at Dh522.25 per gram for 24K, Dh483.50 for 22K, Dh463.50 for 21K and Dh397.25 for 18K, with 14K at Dh310.00. This marked a slight increase from Wednesday, December 17, when 24K was priced at Dh521.75, 22K at Dh483.00, 21K at Dh463.25, 18K at Dh397.00 and 14K at Dh309.75.
Earlier in the week, Tuesday’s rates on December 16 showed a stronger jump, with 24K at Dh516.75, 22K at Dh478.50, 21K at Dh458.75, 18K at Dh393.25 and 14K at Dh306.75. Monday’s close on December 15 had placed 24K at Dh518.25, 22K at Dh480.00, 21K at Dh460.25, 18K at Dh394.50 and 14K at Dh307.75, highlighting a brief dip before the midweek rebound.
Global gold markets
Internationally, gold prices were broadly steady on Thursday, supported by expectations of lower US interest rates but capped by a resilient dollar. Spot gold hovered around $4,334 an ounce, while US futures eased slightly to near $4,365.
Markets remained attentive to upcoming US inflation readings, with monetary policy signals continuing to shape bullion demand amid discussions on tariffs and economic policy under President Donald Trump.
Other precious metals
Silver traded close to record territory after touching $66.88 an ounce earlier in the week, underpinned by strong industrial demand and tightening inventories.
Platinum surged to more than a 17-year high near $1,953 an ounce, while palladium climbed to around $1,666, its strongest level in almost three years, extending a broad rally across precious metals.
